About FBRO
A refugee-led community-based organization (CBO) founded in 2024 in Kakuma Refugee Camp and Kalobeyei Settlement, Turkana County, Kenya.
Why FBRO exists
Many families in Kakuma Refugee Camp and Kalobeyei Settlement in Turkana County, Kenya, continue to face severe humanitarian and socioeconomic challenges that affect their daily lives. Young people often lack access to vocational skills training and income generation, while vulnerable households struggle with food security and basic necessities.
Future Builders Refugee Organization (FBRO) was started by refugees who stepped forward to respond directly to these everyday challenges: youth unemployment, lack of economic opportunities, poverty, inter-community conflict, environmental degradation, and limited access to education and livelihoods development.
Founded on the principle that local communities understand their problems best, FBRO mobilizes volunteers across refugee communities and host communities to deliver practical humanitarian support, peacebuilding, youth empowerment, environmental protection, and sustainable livelihoods.
